SC Strikes Back

Godfather 2, Empire Strikes Back and Beethoven's 2nd. It's rare but it does happen--that the sequel is even bigger and better than the original. Separate City II premiered on Tuesday May 3rd and audiences (well, there was just one audience) everywhere (well, it was only at the Basement Tavern) flipped for it (but they actually did flip). With a first act featuring the folktronic stylings of yOya, a second that hosted the harmonious harmonies of Milo Greene, and a climax that centered on Crystal Antlers leaving the confounds of the stage to sweat and writhe with the crowd, it was a sweeping epic. Seriously, read about it on Roger Ebert's blog! (Well, it's probably undergoing routine maintenance).
The Basement--having recently been given a capacity cap of 120--saw 400+ pass through its doors (don't tell the Fire Marshall). As always, the food trucks were in full swing in the parking lot. The Crepe'n Around truck's battery died and every story needs a hero so the boys of yOya saved the day and gave them a jump. Well played, boys!
BV knows we have enough ideas for the sequel's sequel. A trilogy. Hell, we have a franchise on our hands. Its plot is simple and profound: Bring good eastside music to the westside.
Stay tuned for more SCs at theaters (the Basement) near you.

Special THANKS to ALL the bands and Phil for filling our ears with goodness.
And high-fives and fist-bumps to Daniel Winter for taking gobs of sick pics.
