The Ramble Shakedown

On Tuesday the 30th of November, my search lead me to an unexpected place. A low-ceiling'ed ‘Basement’ in a west side Victorian house.
Main Street.
Santa Monica.
Dim light from chandeliers spilled onto the usual suspects.
Those damn Bagavagabonds.
I should have known.

The BV Ramble they called it.
Cute, but your donations to the Tashirat orphanage whether it be clothes or cash, couldn’t fool me. Sure it’s a great front, but who asks for used clothes and in return gives a new, live, original designed screen-printed t-shirt.
Sneaky bastards, that’s who.
But it didn’t stop there. Never does with this lot. No, the main event was about to unfold.
Seems these clowns had assembled and somehow lured a bill of great upcoming east side bands out west. Risers, Gentle Hands, LA Font, Gamble House, Voxhaul Broadcast, Hi Ho Silver Oh and The Drakes (as the house band).
Masterminds, I tell ya.
The whole evening flowed like a perfect blend of chaos and order. With bands jumping up for short original sets and The Drakes offering old favorites in between. I’ll be honest, I found myself tapping my foot a few times, it sickens me to say.
I had to get it together; I had a job to do.
Oh I almost forgot, the dames from INSIGHT and K-SWISS were in cahoots once again. These bandits are always surrounding themselves with good company.
Clever, clever.
I stayed from 7:00pm to 1:30am and she was nowhere to be seen among the 250 faces that passed through the Basement that night. Sure there were a lot of interesting, good-looking hip people, some posing for the LA times style photo booth, but none were her.
So my search continues, but I vow that I will find her.
As sure as the BV Crew keeps putting on these multi-layered events that both entertain and give back, I will find her. And when I do, I won’t let her out of my sight, for she is…
